APEX's Policy on Climate Change Issues
Policymakers at the federal, regional and state levels are all considering a variety of actions to address the potential impact of man-made carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions on climate change. APEX is committed to providing clean, efficient construction services, which will lead to the reduction of CO2 emissions, and to working with policymakers, engineers and architects on other steps to reduce emissions within the construction, residential, commercial and industrial industries.
Generation of electricity is the largest single source of man-made CO2 emissions in the United States. The building sector will need to find ways to lower the overall carbon emissions associated with producing electricity in this country while still providing consumers with affordable and reliable homes and businesses. The US Green Building Council has already made early strides at reducing carbon emissions through various voluntary programs. Such efforts are to be commended and will continue to play an important role for the country. The fastest and most effective way to reduce CO2 is by replacing the old, traditional or out-dated construction products and technology with modern, highly efficient products and more renewable resources. APEX has chosen to build a reputable business around innovation in building envelopes and strives to become the leader in thermal and moisture protection motivating homeowners and professionals to become aware of new building practices and building science.
Voluntary programs alone may not provide the action needed to tackle this challenge. APEX supports building retrofit and new construction programs at the federal, regional and state levels that promote reductions in power consumption and provide flexible, market-based solutions that will reward the transition from more energy-intense usage to efficient, low energy building envelopes.
